Open Call for Artistic Residency

In cooperation with its project partners, DDTG Nonprofit Ltd. announces an artistic residency programme within the framework of the Parks4All project. The aim of the project is to explore, use, utilise and rethink the parks and green spaces around us in a new way, through the arts. The project is co-financed by the Interreg VI-A IPA Hungary–Serbia Programme and the Hungarian State.

 

Duration of the residency programme: 3–17 September 2026.

Location of the residency programme: Szeged, Hungary

 

Call keyword: PANEL The artistic work may relate to any layer of meaning of the word in order to exploit its ambiguity.

 

Thematic background of the call: The residency programme examines the relationship between rigid, planned and structured forms (built environment, social patterns, technological systems) and organic, spontaneous, self-organising or bottom-up processes (urban green spaces, social subcultures).

 

Target group and genre categories: The call is open to any natural person or creative group under the age of 35, including independent professional or semi-professional artists.

Applications are accepted from creative groups of up to 3 persons, with an average age not exceeding 35 years. Group members may come from Hungary and/or Serbia.

We welcome works in the following fields:

·       Theatre and performance (site-specific and public-space forms)

·       Contemporary dance and movement theatre

·       Slam poetry and spoken word

·       New circus and physical theatre

·       Audiovisual productions

 

Implementation requirement: Productions must be suitable for presentation outdoors in a park environment. Preference will be given to concepts requiring minimal technical equipment and using mobile or acoustic solutions.

 

The residency programme provides:

·       Artist’s fee: gross HUF 300,000 per artist. Paid under a service contract concluded with a natural person, in accordance with the applicable Hungarian tax legislation,

·       Production budget: following the evaluation of applications, based on the approved budget of the PARKS4ALL project (up to approximately HUF 400,000).

·       Infrastructure: rehearsal space, technical equipment, materials, props and professional consultation during the residency period.

·       Presentation opportunity: premiere between 18 and 20 September 2026 as part of the official programme of the Zápor Flow Festival, at an outdoor venue by Lake Zápor in Szeged.

·       Documentation: professional photo and video material of the completed performance.

·       Upon request, travel expenses, accommodation (in a hotel with a minimum 3-star rating) and three meals per day will be provided for the duration of the residency programme. Please indicate your requirements precisely on the cover sheet to be submitted as a mandatory part of the application.

 

Application requirements and submission procedure

Applications must be submitted digitally to info@ddtg.eu in English, Serbian or Hungarian. Please indicate in the subject line: “PANEL Open Call – [Name of Artist/Group]”. Receipt of every application will be confirmed by reply email (if no confirmation is received within two days, please enquire by phone at +36 70 666 2993).

Required documents:

·       Fully completed and signed cover sheet

·       Professional portfolio and CV: brief introduction and previous works (with video links where possible).

·       Artistic concept (max. 2 pages): description of the project, its connection to the keyword and the plan for implementation in a park setting.

·       Technical plan and approximate budget.

 

By submitting an application, applicants undertake to implement their plans to the best of their ability, to install/prepare their works on site no later than 18 September 2026 and present them during the festival, and to assume responsibility for them.

Announcement of results: by 16:00 on 26 August 2026 (All applicants will be notified by email.)
